Let me tell you one thing that I learned while working with paid ads.
Think of ads as a large crowd.
It is difficult to find the person that you’re looking for.
The only thing you can do to get their attention is to call them by their name.
Anyone would react when their name is called out loud in the crowd.
Think of all the advertisements that people see on social media as being the same.
Something needs to stand out to catch their attention.
But here you don’t use their name.
You use headlines.
The First Thing That Gets Attention
People see thousands of ads daily on social media.
The first thing that they see when they scroll Is the first sentence of your ad. It’s called a headline.
The main purpose of a headline is to catch their attention within a couple of seconds.
However, many ads fail at this because their ads are too self-focused.
Here is an example of what NOT to do when writing headlines:
“Best Therapists in Town”
“My name is Jack. Fitness Coach With 10 Years of Experience”
“The Cheapest Car Dealership in California”
Instead of saying that you’re the best, the cheapest, the smartest in your area.
You should focus on their problem:
“Does Your Back Hurt?”
“How To Improve Your Spanish in One Week”
They care about what you can do for them and how they can benefit from your business.
Your headlines should focus on people’s problems to show that you understand them.
Find Your Perfect Audience
To make sure that you’re doing everything right.
Identifying your audience's needs, problems, and what they’re interested in.
You should choose a certain audience for your business.
Let’s say you’re selling a hunting rifles.
Your target audience would be men, probably around 30-55 years old who are interested in hunting.
Yes, there is always a possibility that a woman or a man younger than that age range would buy a hunting rifle.
This is okay. They can buy it as a gift for their father, husband, or brother. Or even for themselves.
But still, it won’t be the main audience that you’ll get orders from.
That’s why you should keep talking to the audience that I mentioned before (men, 30-55 years, interested in hunting) because most of your orders will be from them.
What I Should Do Next?
With so many ads flooding social media, it is difficult to grab someone’s attention.
Problem-focused headlines are a very powerful tool that helps you to get attention in a couple of seconds and with just one sentence.
After reading this article you should have an understanding of how to write a perfect headline for your ad and what makes it stand out.
